Keloid and hypertrophic scars

KELOIDS & HYPERTROPHIC SCARS

For the keloid treatment the surgeon uses the following:

1) Patches of slow release cortisone and cortisone ointment
2) Silicone patches
3) Pulse dye & Fractional CO₂ lasers
4) Cryotherapy
5) Intralesional cortisone injection
6) Intralesional bleomycin or 5-fluorouracil
7) Surgical removal within the keloid (due to increased possibility of recurrence when excised to healthy skin margins)

For the hypertrophic scar treatment the surgeon uses 1,2 and 3 from the stated above options.
